VIDEO: Little girl calls out toy companies for sexism or something

This video made the rounds over the holidays (the rounds of people who like watching little girls while they should be spending time with family, I suppose?) and, well, I’ll save my thoughts. In it, a little girl rants about toys and the gender biases within selling them.

This little girl, and her dad egging her on, seem to think this is some sort of elaborate scheme..some situation where we’re all the proletariat and kids are being brainwashed to be pod people. But how about the simpler explanation: The people stocking the shelves and selling things to you are lazy and unoriginal and this is just how things have been for millions of years? If we want to look more deeply into things, the consumers are probably even more at fault. Do you know how many people would complain if all of a sudden all the girls’ toys were superheroes and the boys were getting pink ponies? The words ‘Gay Conspiracy’ would be slung around so much that your head would spin.

So relax, Riley. Just take the fact that you’re surrounded by Barbies with a career beyond “Housewife with Two Black Eyes” as a sign of progress.
