VIDEO: Local news producer has no clue how to make the weather map work

Perhaps being in NYC, I’m spoiled by the professionalism and handsomeness of our seasoned news producers. But this clip from WCBI in Starkville, MS of weatherman Jason Dunning’s problems with the on-screen weather display seems remarkably incompetent. Stick with it the whole way because it just gets worse and worse.
In fairness, it can’t be easy to work one of those things as a producer behind the scenes, let alone one in a tiny market in Mississippi. An on-screen map for that station was probably built on Windows 95 by a monkey in a train conductor’s uniform. Pure bush league.
Not the guy’s hair though. That is grade-A top 25 market hair. The kind of hair a man could get his weather from any day of the week. You know just how I like my stormfronts, Jason Dunning. Yeah, that producer is sabotaging you, baby. Let’s get your part cleaned up and quote Ron Burgundy at one another. Mmrmm mm mm. That’s nice.
