VIDEO: Microsoft engineer makes robot to entertain his dog

Chris Spags Founder and Editor

Microsoft developer Jordan Correa and his wife both work a lot, leaving their dog Darwin alone for long stretches of time. So Correa set out to find a solution. And that solution is called the DarwinBot, an automaton made to serve as a pet companion.

That’s incredibly impressive but I bet confusing as crap for Darwin. He probably spends half the day confused as to why his owner turns into a Transformer and the other half wondering why he then doesn’t move for hours at a time.

This solution probably isn’t for every dog. For example, my dog is afraid of handtrucks on the NYC streets so I can’t imagine her necessarily gravitating toward a mechanical monster with metal pieces poking out all over the place. But I suppose a dog terrified in the corner urinating on itself is technically an engaged dog, so it probably still counts as a win for dog robots everywhere.
