VIDEO: NYC man thwarts robbery with an apple

There are heroes…and then there are guys who fend off knife-wielding robbers using nothing but an apple.

Police say the 58-year-old victim in the clip above was stabbed in the torso during the altercation. Fortunately, he was immediately taken to the hospital where he was stitched up and released.

The incident occurred in the none-too-pleasant area of the Bronx around East 143rd street. Both would-be robbers remain at large.

Obviously, working in a dodgy area as a parking attendant means you’ve got to be prepared for any situation. But this kind of self defense? I mean even a zucchini or a pear, I could see. But an apple? You’re definitely pushing the envelope of what it means to be the Bronx’s toughest parking attendant with that one. The only thing more impressive would have been if he ran the thugs off with a well-timed comment about how their jeans make them look fat.
