VIDEO: Old lady thwarts jewelry robbers in the UK with her handbag

In what seems like the fakest video to ever fake its way down fake street, this footage of an old lady allegedly fighting off six robbers in Northampton, UK, is going all over the Internet. But is it real? You decide!

So here’s why it’s fake:

-Six robbers with sledgehammers got stopped by an old lady wandering down the street. Really? I get not wanting to rough and old lady up, but I’m not going to sit there with my sledgehammer — desperate enough to rob a jewelry store — and let some elderly woman with osteoporosis keep me from my stolen loot.
-Notice how prominent the Rolex sign is in the video? If I’m a street videographer, I sincerely doubt I’m going to keep a major brand’s logo in frame THE ENTIRE TIME. Unless Jim Rolex happened to be walking down the street at this very moment, that’s the biggest tell at all that this is totally staged.
-This happened in the UK. The most credible report came from the Guardian over there and, even then, every source is anonymous, every account is vague. Smells BS-y.

Anyway, I’m planning on continuing my investigation by randomly jostling elderly women on the street with a sledgehammer held to their face. It’s the best way I know how to give back that also involves threatening the elderly.
