This YouTube clip claiming to be edited by a chimp named JT in California may be two years old, but it’s as socially relevant as it was when it was first posted. Mostly because a film clip claiming to be edited by a chimpanzee using a Final Cut Pro editing system is a very funny concept. And damn if the chimp didn’t churn out a fine project.
I personally thought the chimp sounds combined with the children horrified at the surf rising up really brought it full circle. It was symbolic of so many things. Technology’s pervasiveness, the need to return to a simpler existence, how delicious bananas are. I was on board.
Plus it felt more cohesive than “Sucker Punch”. Zack Snyder: 0, Chimps: 732.
