When committing a robbery, don’t forget your baby at the crime scene
A 23-year-old woman and her 16-year-old friend decided to go into a Sears dressing room, fill a bag full of clothes and then make a run for the front door. The two managed to get away, but the 10-month-old baby of one of the women was not so fleet of foot and was apprehended almost immediately.
I think we may have a winner for “Dumbest Criminal of the Year” and “Mother of the Year” in this story.
West Palm Beach police said Whitaker and a 16-year-old girl went into a JC Penney dressing room Friday and came out with $256 worth of merchandise hidden in a shopping bag.
Then after someone tries to stop them, they somehow still manage to get out the front door and take off across the parking lot. “Run, run, run! We didn’t forget anything, did we?”
Police said Whitaker also left her baby standing on the sidewalk outside the store.
This woman steals less than $300 worth of stuff and leaves a perfectly good baby standing on the sidewalk. Was she just planning on leaving the baby for good or was she maybe gonna loop around and pick the baby up? Maybe the baby had a bus pass — I don’t know. However I do know that a good baby can be sold for a substantial amount of money on the black market, so leaving a perfectly good baby behind for $250 worth of clothes was not only negligent, it also showed poor business acumen.
Of course these two weren’t the brightest criminals to grace the parking lot of Sears — they threw everything down while running away, including their purses, one of which had Whitaker’s driver licenses in it. Police obviously didn’t have much work after that.
