World’s most polite robber Gregory Hess gets arrested
The footage of a Seattle robbery by “polite robber” Gregory Hess is starting to go all over the Internet. But fear not, the man in this video who told a store owner, “I’m robbing you, sir,” has been apprehended by Seattle police.
Hess, 65, entertained a lot of people with his meek robbery seen in the video above.
In the viral video, Hess apologizes profusely for his actions, telling the storeowner, “I really am sorry to have to do this. I’ve got rent to pay. I’ve got bills. And the kids need to eat.”
Police told Aol News that though Hess seems like a fine enough fellow — despite his turning down an offer of money from the storeowner, opting to continue with the robbery instead — he’s a bit of a dodgy character. Hess has been arrested other times, including previous convictions for forgery and armed robbery.
Hess is currently in police custody on one count of armed robbery.
It’s funny and all that the guy is so polite. But at the same time, what did he think? Just because you say “please” and “sir” doesn’t make it any less of a case of you pointing a gun at some schmuck at a gas station. It’s like being sexually assaulted by a guy dressed like Mr. Peanut…sure, you appreciate the air of class, but it doesn’t make the situation any more palatable.
