A moustache for men’s health? Must be Movember

movember 3 A moustache for mens health? Must be MovemberHappy Movember! Never heard of it? Well, it’s the reason why you may have noticed more guys than usual sporting facial hair lately. Because it’s certainly not that moustaches are making a comeback.

Movember is a global movement to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues – specifically prostate cancer. The month-long event got its start in Australia and has now spread worldwide, inspiring more than a million “Mo Bros” (and their supportive “Mo Sistas”) to participate in places like England, Spain, South Africa, Ireland, and the United States. Last year, over 60,000 participants in the US alone raised more than $7 million dollars for men’s health.

Mo Bros raise money by finding sponsors for their moustache-growing efforts. Guys begin the month clean-shaven and grow from there, showing off their progress on Facebook and in office pools – battling to see who can grow the most impressive ‘stache.

Just past the month’s halfway point, their efforts are paying off. For these guys, what started as stubble has grown into a banner for the men’s health cause, rustling proudly across upper lips all around the world.

From a style standpoint, it’s a great excuse to experiment with your look. Because while not every guy looks good with facial hair, you’ll never really know until you try. And if you look silly, just remember – it’s for a good cause. As for your loved ones, they can take comfort in the knowledge that conversations about issues that might otherwise go undiscussed are taking place because of these moustaches. And that November is only thirty days long.
