2011 Guyism Holiday Gift Guide – WHARF Shop
We start today off with Rob Babigian from WHARF, one of my favorite online men’s retail shops. Rob is a super cool guy, who has kind enough to reach out to me with a real nice parcel when I was having some existential doubts on life. That makes him OK in my book. Take a look at his 3 picks from his store and enjoy!
1. Shipley & Halmos Hayden Fair Isle Sweater – $236
Fair Isle is big this season, but what I love is how Jeff & Sam always have the perfect fit and fabric. Sure, it’s lambswool, but it has this next level hand that is buttery soft. And the Gray/Maroon/Blue/White tones strike the right cross between seasonal playfulness and classic style.
2. The Canvas Biker Jacket – $389
People underestimate how good Rugger’s outerwear lineup is season to season and this jacket is the perfect example this season. I love it and have not taken it off all Fall. I talked to Chris Bastin about its fabric because I want to replicate it for a project I am doing for WHARF. It is THAT good. Not quite oil cloth, not quite waxed duck. He said they had it custom-produced for the jacket and it is the truth. The fit and way the fabric really forms to you, but stills feels bullet-proof is amazing.
3. WHARF Button Down shirts – $159
OK, these are a homer pick, but what can I say? I love them. The just-trim-enough fit, the styles, the little details like the natural Corozo nut buttons and end-on-end fabric we use on the plackets that peaks out if you roll them on warm days. And it is so much fun to be able to make stuff. And these were our first product. I wear one pretty much every day (irony is we make 7 models right now).
