Does the singles scene feel like a tired carousel of meeting women at a bar, taking them out to dinner and a movie, and then seeing where it goes from there? It can get pretty monotonous out there. We’re sure the ladies are probably tired of the same chit chat over the same meal over and over again as well. Have no fear singles of the world, here are six innovative date ideas that can potentially get you out of the rut.

6 Paintball
Ok, this may be a little risky for a first date–no one wants to accidentally shoot the girl they’re trying to woo in the grill. However, if you can get a girl really pumped and excited about going out into the paintball field and going to battle for a few hours, then you know you’ve got yourself and adventurous type. Afterwards, there’s a golden opportunity to ice down one another’s bruises.

5 The Drive-in Movie Theater
This was maybe innovative back in the 50′s or so. But since the dawn of 3D movies and huge IMAX screens, drive-in theaters have been slowly dying out. That’s exactly why it’s a clutch spot to take a lady friend. It’s a throwback touch to a new era. Get yourselves some burgers and shakes, head over to the nearest drive-in theater (it may take a little while to find one) and maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get your Fonzie game on by the end of the night.

4 Game time
This idea is strictly for the athletic-types. A little friendly, heated, competition is always a good thing. If you have a girl on your hands who is pretty athletic, why not challenge her to a game of one-on-one? It could be anything: basketball, sprinting, arm-wrestling, whatever. If you want to raise the stakes a little higher why not have the loser pay for dinner? The key word here is friendly. Don’t let your egos go haywire in trying to win a free meal. We’ve seen it before and it can get nasty.

3 Get to a gun range
There’s a caveat here: you have to be 250% sure that this girl is not a psychopath before you take her to a gun range. That being said, there’s really nothing like exercising your government-given right to bear arms. While it may not be some people’s cup of tea, firing a gun can be a really cathartic and intense experience. It’s definitely worth a shot (no pun intended.) Afterwards, who knows you two can go for some venison or something.

2 Crash a fancy party
Again, a risky move. But sometimes it’s the riskiest moves that pay off the best. The two of you should be dressed like a couple from Mad Men before attempting this. Just head over to the nicest hotel you can find and see if there’s a wedding reception-fundraiser ball-socialite party being held there. Worst case scenario: you don’t make it in and you can still get drinks at the hotel bar. Best case scenario: you pull it off and enjoy free food and champagne while hanging out with some random rich folks.

Whether it’s at a nearby park, at a museum or whatever–a good way to bond with someone is to see how they judge others. You can set up a picnic or whatever, but the real goal here is to make fun of strangers: an activity that everyone can enjoy. As a bonus, you’ll be able to see if she laughs at your jokes, a very important quality in any potential girlfriend.
