Blues assistant coach Steve Ott found himself in a hilarious situation over the weekend with his team facing off against Minnesota. His St. Louis squad was performing on the ice, but the action outside the rink was just as exciting.

Ott’s son, Maverick, became a jumbotron superstar when cameras panned in his direction. The youngster went absolutely nuts in the stands, ripping off his Blues jersey and waving it over his head in pure emotion.

All the while, his assistant coach dad had to hold it together while watching along to the incredible scene from the St. Louis bench.

Take a look:

Somehow, Ott was able to hold it together in the box, though he did break character with a sly smirk at the end – And how could you not?!

The response on social media was fantastic.

“Proud parenting moment!”

“This is the kind of content I’m here for.”

“Maverick was ready for his moment. He had a plan.”

He knew exactly what to do when cameras turned his way, and he had each of the 18,000 fans in attendance amped up!

That excitement continued on to the ice where St. Louis pulled off an impressive 3-1 win to land their 31st victory of the year.
