‘Learn the switch to Mac’ app only $0.99
The most frustrating thing in the entire world is using a PC, because Windows stinks. (Sorry, it does. No one realizes this til they switch to a Mac.)
The second-most frustrating thing in the world is switching to a Mac, opening up that beautiful, streamlined silver box of invested cash and realizing, “Oh, s***. I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.” This happens to everyone, and it’s okay.
When I made the move a few years ago, it took me two full weeks to figure out what I was doing on my new Macbook.
In fact, there are still new things I’m learning about my Mac, but when it comes to the basics, etc., that’s cake. Of course, it might have been easier if I’d had the “Learn the Switch to Mac” app — available for purchase in the Mac App store — beforehand.
Basically, it’s a video tutorial/”for Dummies” guide to anyone making the jump. And right now, it’s only $0.99.
I just downloaded the app and it’s pretty handy, in that it runs in the background, it has videos for all the basic applications and it lets you try your hand in a demo without actually blowing up your brand new Apple product. (Note that it’s REALLY hard to do something stupid that will mess up your computer when you roll with Mac, which is the total opposite of a PC.)
That being said, if you’ve already switched to Mac or are reasonably computer/tech-savvy, it’s not worth buying unless it’s less than a buck.
For my mother (if she switched, which she won’t)? Gold, and I’d probably pay the $24.95 that the app normally costs, because it’s a simplistic explanation of how to use iCal, Mail, Safari, Finder, etc.
These are things that you figure out when you switch because either a) it’s obvious or b) you have to.
But if those applications and tools are things that scare you and/or things that you haven’t figured out, well, dive right in. It don’t cost nothing.
