It’s snowing in Texas.

Yeah, it seems weird, but it happened and it could happen again. So whether you’re heading to Texas or leaving Texas or even going to Mars in order to avoid the obviously impending Apocalypse, it’s probably a good idea to take down as many travel tips as you possibly can while Earth is still hanging around.

Which leads us to Lonely Planet’s random giveaway of free travel guides. Currently, you can download Boston, Chicago, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington D.C.

And you know how much they cost? Nada. AKA “OTH.” (That’s “on the house” for you non cool kids.)

Look, Lonely Planet isn’t the greatest travel site in the world. But no travel site is actually “good” these days — user reviews and paid-search-whoring have destroyed the online travel industry beyond reasonable repair at this point.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take advantage of something that don’t cost nothing (at least until this Friday!) and still provides a better service than anything you’ll see from those creepy deal-swinging elves and owls on the rest of the internet.
