Whiskey and vodka are great for bartering
With the popularity of zombies right now, there is often talk of the apocalypse. Some people prepare by purchasing or forging awesome weaponry. Others stockpile food and water. One redditor, however, has a different idea.
This guy knows what’s up. As a commodities trader, I am well aware of the fact that there are plenty of idiots out there who think gold is will be an essential commodity when everything goes to hell. Sure currency used to be tied to it, but in a world where people don’t have essentials, the intrinsic value of a hunk of medal is zero. People will be looking to swap want they want and need, and everyone wants and needs booze.
If you have a couple spare bottles of whiskey, and I have a few extra guns, we are going to be good friends until I can get my still up and running. Then, you’re on your own. To answer the question though, unopened base liquors have a nearly indefinite shelf life assuming they aren’t subject to extreme temperatures.
