7 of the best movie cocktails you’d drink in real life
Most of us have drinks we regularly order at the bar. Alcohol concoctions that are as familiar to us as our warm childhood blanket. They frequently put us to sleep as well. Movie characters can have regular drinks too. Cocktails that represent the drinker in some way or characterize the film. Here are seven of them for you to drink along with.

7 'The Big Lebowski' – White Russian
This is the inspiration for the list. According to IMDB, The Dude has nine White Russians during the course of the movie. That’s enough to get you drunk. An unusual but fitting drink choice. White Russians are mellow drinks. The Dude lights candles and smokes roaches while soaking in the tub. He is the most mellow character in movie history.

6 'Saturday Night Fever' - 7 and 7
This is Travolta’s drink. Some research shows that Tony Soprano drank these and Robert De Niro ordered one in Goodfellas. Maybe this is an Italian American drink. I’ve never seen somebody order one. Seagram’s isn’t nearly as popular as it used to be. According to Drinks International in 2010 Seagram’s sold less than 2.5 million cases. Comparable American Whiskeys Jack Daniels and Jim Beam sold 10 and 5.3 million respectively. So fuhgeddaboutit.

5 'Groundhog Day' – Sweet Vermouth on the Rocks With a Twist
Men do crazy things for women. Especially for hot ones like Andie MacDowell. Tits and curly hair made Billy Murray order this vile drink when he was trying to impress her. How can something taste so bad and be so sissy at the same time? Tits and curly hair made me sing Lisa Loeb's "Stay" at a karaoke bar once so I feel you Bill. All is forgiven in the pursuit of the game. Play on player.

4 James Bond – Martini
Martinis are the drink people are most prickly about. Every detail is argued about by purists. Bond doesn’t care though. He just orders them like a boss. In the books he orders 19 vodka martinis and 16 gin martinis. In the films he mixes it up as well. If you had to pick one for him it would be the vodka martini though. Bond orders them “shaken, not stirred” and you should too. It makes it colder and more enjoyable.

3 'Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy' – Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster
"Like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick."
The actual recipe for this is whimsical science fiction nonsense. However, if you were going to make one in real life, start with lots of alcohol. And then add more. It’s a dangerous Long Island Iced Tea with Everclear and 151 replacing the vodka and rum. You should be able to light this thing on fire.

2 'Cocktail' – Red Eye
This pops up three separate times in the movie. It’s a kind of hangover cure. Beer, tomato juice and a raw egg. For a movie called Cocktail and about bartenders you’d think they’d have unleashed a new drink on the world that would be better than this. It’s like a really shitty Bloody Mary. Don’t drink this unless you need to throw up on somebody.

1 'Meet the Parents/Fockers' – Tom Collins
De Niro again! Jack Byrnes is a retired CIA analyst who makes his wussy nurse of a son in law take a lie detector test. I think he should have waterboarded him but hey I just don’t root for lovable losers. I’m a man. Jack’s a man too and his drink of choice throughout the series is a Tom Collins. It’s a classic gin drink.
