February 22nd is National Margarita Day
You can add today to my list of favorite holidays, because I love any excuse to have a margarita. The timing seems odd considering that it’s both Carnival and Mardi Gras, but who am I to tell the tequila companies how to run their business?
The origins of the cocktail are shrouded in mystery. OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but no one can agree upon exactly who created it, where, or why. What we can all agree to though is that they are delicious. Whether you’re at a backyard barbecue in Michigan or on a beach in Mexico, you can’t go wrong with tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime juice. If you are too lazy to make a proper version, I’ll let Fatman teach you how to make one the commoners way.
Even if you aren’t a huge margarita fan (what’s wrong with you?), you can get close enough to celebrating by making a beergarita. I posted a recipe back when I tried Peligroso tequila, which you can check out here.
