Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke chugs a beer
Colin Joliat There is something strangely appealing about seeing world leaders enjoying beer. It reminds us that behind all the hatred or love poured on, they are really just regular people who happen to have the ability to end the world as we know it. I took great joy seeing Obama become the first president to brew beer in the White House, and I love knowing that George Washington was a brewer and distiller. Today isn’t about American presidents though. Today belongs to Australia.
It takes a lot of faith to accept a beer from a stranger, but Bob Hawke, the former Prime Minister of Australia is a master of trust falls, and he’s never backed down from a drink.
Now that’s impressive. I hope at 82 I’m half the man that he is. Fun fact for you: Bob Hawke once held the record for chugging a yard glass of beer in 11 seconds. Hawke…Australian for awesome.
