Fort De Soto campground party shut down by fun police

Colin Joliat Staff Writer

This group of fun loving campers was ready to party at Fort De Soto Park. They were incredibly proud of there random collection of booze and wanted to show it off to the world. Unfortunately in doing so, they were thrown out of the park.

Unfortunately for the soon to be drunk bunch of idiots, an off duty park volunteer (what?) had a Google Alert set up and was immediately notified that something had been posted about the site. Ranger Rick dutifully informed active security about the party set to go down because alcohol is illegal on park grounds. They were kicked off the grounds and issued a citation, amounting to nothing more than a one-year ban for the person who made the camping reservations. I’m not sure where that falls in the spectrum of possible penalties, but it seems pretty reasonable.

I’d like to make fun of these people for posting the video that got them busted, but honestly who would have known that there was a tattle tale out there scouring Socialcam? Instead, I’ll mock them for being shitty campers. I put up a tent once a year – one that I bought for $30 from Walmart – and through several vicious storms I’ve still never had my stuff get soaked. Beyond that, their booze collection looks each person took one bottle from their parents’ liquor cabinet. And regardless of how obnoxiously you want to say “five,” you have 2.5 cases of beer. No one is impressed by that.
