GE tries a crossover commercial but it fails

Colin Joliat Staff Writer

I didn’t expect to be posting a General Electric ad today, but they decided to hop in bed with Budweiser for a combo commercial. Unfortunately for them, I’m not sure my reaction was quite what they were hoping for.

It’s not a bad spot, but bringing a specific beer into the mix was probably a mistake. Sure it offset some of the price, but at what cost? My first though was, “If GE is going to take credit for Budweiser, does that mean they have to take the blame too?” They should really have left the combos to the professionals, like Taco Bell/Pizza Hut. Plus, that isn’t even the best crossover commercial of the weekend. That honor goes to Old Spice.
