Hanson brothers to brew MMMHop IPA
Far too many interesting products and articles come across my desk to write about everything, but sometimes there is one that absolutely demands my attention and immediately sends me into action. Such was the case when I was sent a story about the Hanson sisters brothers. They were the quintessential boy band. It’s not because they were better than the likes of N*Sync or Backstreet Boys, but because they were actually just boys as opposed to grown men pretending to be. Now, they are trying to shed that boyish image by creating their own beer.
To be fair, I didn’t even know that Hanson was still alive let alone around. I assumed they met their fate in a gruesome parking lot rollerblade incident. Thankfully that’s not the case, and they appear to be just fine. As I discovered from Wikipedia, they’re also still making music. They’ve put out 3 albums in the past 5 years. We probably didn’t know about them because we aren’t teenage girls, but in an effort to change that they have decided to create their own beer.
Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson are in the process of developing an Indian Pale Ale which they plan to release in early 2012, and are going to name the beverage MMMHop after their biggest hit MMMBop.
…
“It’s vital our fans have trust in everything Hanson do. In fact we are soon going to be selling our own beer, I’m not even joking. MMMHop IPA anyone?”
Awww, that’s a cute name. Unfortunately for them, it would also deter me from ever ordering one, regardless of how good it is. That’s saying something too because you all know how much I love IPAs. What about you? Can you look past they little boy/girls we all remember slathered across elementary school girls’ trapper keepers? Will you be willing to tuck it back and order one? Let me know.
In case you’re wondering what they look like now, I’ve tracked down a video from the event at which they announced this beer. It’s not from the part where they actually talk it, but did you really think many people at Oxford University would be filming their appearance? For your man-card’s sake though, I’d recommend only watching a few seconds.
