Colin Joliat Staff Writer

There are studies proving just about everything you want to hear these days, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still make me feel better about my daily habits. The newest proves that a beer a day is good for you.
Beer is healthy 266x214 Study shows drinking beer is good for you

Published in the European Journal of Epidemiology, the study is an analysis of 16 studies involving more than 200,000 participants. Researchers found that people who drank about a pint of beer a day had a 31 percent reduced risk of heart disease.

Who am I to second guess the Europeans? They have a monopoly on the top of the beer consumption per capita rankings, so clearly they know what they’re talking about.  Of course I omitted the next line about how you shouldn’t have any more than that or your risk goes up, but that’s what journalists are supposed to do, right? Pick what works, and run with it.

Giancoli also noted that beer may have some benefits not found in wine.

So there you have it. If you drink beer every day of your life you are 31% more likely to be awesome less likely to get heart disease. Next time your girlfriend complains about your drinking habit and tries to play the “wine is good for you” card to justify hers, just drop this study on her and tell her to fetch you a fresh beer!
