VIDEO: Man shotguns 5.7 liters of beer

Colin Joliat Staff Writer

Ever wonder what happens when a professional competitive eater decides to do a little recreational drinking? It’s exactly what you would expect from someone who specializes in large quantity consumption.

I attempt to shotgun a 5.7 liter bottle of Miller Lite (16 beers). The foam and warm temperature made it even nastier than you could imagine.

That’s Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, professional eater extraordinaire. I once watched him eat 12.5 corned beef sandwiches in 10 minutes, and that wasn’t even his best showing. He holds 38 Major League Eating records, so it should come as no surprise that when he drinks, he drinks big.

It doesn’t get much bigger than 1.5 gallons of beer. The fact that he finished the bottle, let alone in about 3 minutes, is absurdly impressive. The body’s not built to house that much carbonation. I’m no slouch when it comes to beer chugging, but I couldn’t get anywhere close to this. The most I’ve ever managed was a pitcher, and I was staring at a potential reversal of fortune for the next 15 minutes.
