VIDEO: Why is the rum gone?
Colin Joliat Today is the last full day of my Caribbean cruise. I know, it hasn’t even seemed like I was gone due to my prudent planning, but in fact I’ve been completely unplugged for 7 days now. I imaging my future self feels pretty relaxed after a week without my phone, facebook, internet, twitter, gmail, and every other way I connect. At the same time, I worry that the digital world has collapsed without me.
That’s not the only thing that may have collapsed at this point; most likely I will have fallen as well. This is a family cruise with my dad and step-family, which means that I will be consuming a significant amount of alcohol to stave off any awkwardness. Assuming I manage not to fall overboard or get left in San Juan, the biggest concern will be that Caribbean doesn’t run out of rum. Hey, if it happened to Jack Sparrow, it could happen to me.
I know that video isn’t new, but it pops into my head almost anytime I mention rum, not to mention that the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song sticks in your head like Mighty Putty. There’s nothing wrong with a little upbeat remix to kick off your Friday morning. Not your style? How about jamming to a little “Rye Whiskey?”
