Who’s up for a 12 martini dinner?
Flair bartending has been around for years, and I’ve never been a fan of it. I have no problem with a guy flipping bottles around when a place isn’t very crowded, but once the lines start getting long, they would be better off just using those skills to pour more drinks at once. Yes, Carnival Court in Vegas, I’m specifically talking about you! More recently, flair pouring has starting turning up on YouTube, and I’m not to keen on that either (drinks typically would be very warm before you actually get them). As long as I’m not the one who has to drink the creations though, I’ll gladly watch.
My French is a bit rusty, but if my Google skills serve me correctly, this is a bartender pouring martinis aboard Celebrity’s beautiful cruise ship, “Constellation,” and it’s a remarkable feat in a hat. Clearly he’s not wearing a hat so Google loses this round, but I think you get the point. He manages to pour 12 martinis at once, all while a bar back obnoxiously rings a bell behind him. Seriously, you’ll probably want to mute this because of him.
If that’s not talent, I don’t know what is. The real question will be whether or not the drinks are any good. Unless it’s cascading down a block of ice directly into my mouth, the flavor will always be of importance than the delivery system. You also have to consider the fact that the bottom edges of those shakers may not be the most clean filter for your colorful cocktail.
