Why we drink again even though we swear we won’t

Colin Joliat Alcohol & Food Editor

Every weekend we promise ourselves we’ll never drink again, and the next day we always do. The explanation of why is more simple than you think.

This is probably the second most frequent lie behind only “I’ve read the terms and conditions.” In fact, I said that this morning when I rolled out of bed. My Instagram feed will likely explain why. Unfortunately getting over a hangover isn’t as easy as just clicking the box after not reading a damn word. So why do we always get back on the horse even though we’re not gymnasts? It’s easy. There’s an awkward evil-Jesus looking man standing over our nearly dead body demanding that we do so. If they guy tells me to do something, I’m doing it. Just don’t cue “Dueling Banjos.”
