Not every female movie character is looking to fall in love with Hugh Grant or give birth to the offspring of a sparkling vampire. While action stars are stereotypically of the masculine variety, there have been more than a few supremely badass women to grace the big screen. Of all the supremely awesome women in film, here are ten that could definitely kick your ass.
10 Alice –- Resident Evil
Milla Jovovich is without a doubt one of the most badass actresses in Hollywood. Very few ladies could have pulled off the physical demands of the Resident Evil series, but somehow she does it flawlessly. Whether it’s a pack of mutant dogs or a bunch of brain-hungry zombies, Alice has the weaponry and quick responses to annihilate the competition.
9 Hit-Girl –- Kick-Ass
Do you think a fight with an 11-year-old girl would be a little one-sided? Well, if you’re talking about fighting Hit-Girl, then you’d be right – because you’d be out cold before you could even throw your first punch. Played by Chloe Moretz, the foul-mouthed minor makes good use of knives and grenades to fell her foes in no time flat.
8 Storm –- X-Men Trilogy
Really, the average guy stands no chance against any superheroine. Within the X-Men Trilogy, you’d easily be laid out by Mystique, Rogue or Storm. However, Storm wins out for her years of fighting experience and supreme mastery of the weather. Mess with this girl, and she’ll literally bring a hurricane of hurt into your life.
7 Lt. Jordan O’Neill –- G.I. Jane
Any girl who can do one-armed push-ups is going to be pretty hard to take down in a fight. With her shaved head and aggressive attitude, Demi Moore’s G.I. Jane proves she has the skills necessary to go toe-to-toe with some of the strongest men in the world (U.S. Navy SEALs). While the movie itself may not be all that critically acclaimed, no one can deny the fact that Jordan could probably kick your ass.
6 River Tam –- Serenity
A skilled marksman and martial artist, River Tam isn’t your average 17 year-old girl. In fact, she’s been conditioned by the Alliance to essentially be a precision killing machine. With the ability to jump into a 20- or 30-man melee without so much as batting an eye, you could attack this girl with a tank and still lose.
5 Sarah Connor -– Terminator 2
If nature tells us anything, it’s that you don’t get between a mother bear and her cub. Well, when Skynet comes to kill her precious little boy, Sarah Connor beefs up and transforms herself from a humble waitress into a supremely badass weapons expert. Truly, if Sarah Connor can take on a kill-happy Terminator sent from the future and survive, what chance do you have?
4 Yu Shu Lien — Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Never before has kicking ass been so beautiful. Yu Shu-lien is the female lead in the movie (played by Michelle Yeoh), and her superhuman zen powers include the ability to virtually float on air and skip across the water. There’s no denying this one -– a simple well-placed roundhouse kick and you’d be out cold.
3 Ellen Ripley –- Alien Series
One look at those hideous aliens, and you’d be pissing your pants and crying in a corner. Not so for Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, who has survived four separate encounters with the human-hating extraterrestrials. Despite lacking the correct male equipment, it’s clear this woman has balls of steel.
2 Trinity –- The Matrix Trilogy
Until you can break through the Matrix and start creating your own reality, you’ve got no chance in hand-to-hand combat with Carrie-Ann Moss’ Trinity. Decked out in her full leather suit, Trinity has the skills to take out six dudes at once and fight off an entire army of Agents.
1 The Bride –- Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2
Of all the kick ass women in the Kill Bill movies, only Uma Thurman’s The Bride (aka Beatrix Kiddo, aka Black Mamba) has the fighting skills and Hattori Hanzo sword necessary to walk away with her life. Whether it’s a one-on-one battle with O-Ren Ishii or a one-on-88 massacre with the Crazy 88, The Bride has the assassination skills to take you out in two seconds flat. Whatever you do, don’t break this woman’s heart, or she’ll break yours with the legendary Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique.
