Brand spotlight: Warby Parker Eyewear
I wear contacts 95% of the time. But for anyone who wears contacts, you know there are those days when those things just won’t go in (coughthat’swhatshesaidcough). On those days when your eyes are dry and puffy from a night of binge drinking and partying, you’ll need a quality pair of glasses to get you through your day. I don’t know about you, but prescription glasses can get exceedingly expensive. The lenses are one thing, but the frames can get a bit ludicrous in their pricing.
Enter Warby Parker. Created as “an alternative to the bland and overpriced eyewear available today,” Warby Parker is godsend to us bespectacled folk. They engage directly with their consumers, thus cutting out the middleman and effectively saving you a load of cash. This has proven to be so effective that all their frames are available for sale at $95 – no more, no less.
With plenty of styles to choose from, Warby Parker has something for everyone. The frames are available exclusively through their website. So, I know what you’re thinking, “How can I buy a pair of glasses without trying them on?” Have no fear, the guys at WP have thought of that already with their “Home Try-on” program. They will send you up to 5 pairs of glasses (sans prescription lenses) to try on at home at your discretion. Pick the one you want and send them all back with the prescription details for the chosen pair within 5 days and you’re good to go. Don’t have the time to waste? You can upload an existing picture to their website or take one via webcam for a virtual try-on. If it doesn’t fit right after all is said and done, they supply you with a pre-paid shipping label to return the frames.
It feels like the guys at Warby Parker have thought of everything. Give them a whirl and let me know if you grab a pair. I hope to use them for my next pair of frames this summer.
