‘Dexter’ action figures are at a Toys “R” Us near you

It seems that a man in Ohio is more than a little upset at finding an action figure of the Michael C. Hall character Dexter in a Columbus area Toys “R” Us. You don’t have to buy it, but don’t stand here and pretend like your kid hasn’t seen a serial killer before.

Jim Schultz is an avid toy collector from Ohio and while perusing the isles of the local Toys “R” Us he happened upon the action figure for the good-guy sociopathic killer from Showtime’s hit series Dexter. He, like many other people that are familiar with the show’s more adult themes, was a bit concerned that the toy giant was carrying a toy that came with accessories such as a handsaw and bloody gloves.

“I thought ‘Oh my god!  You’ve got this in Toys “R” Us? Are you kidding me?’” Schultz said.

OK, I guess that a place like Toys “R” Us probably shouldn’t be carrying toys that promote murdering people — but he’s one of the good serial killers, guy. It’s not like the character was there for a meet and greet with Geoffry.

“I’ve seen the Toys R Us commercials, I didn’t see a 30-something-year-old guy dancing around with the kids and the giraffe,” Schultz said. “There isn’t a serial killer Ken.  He doesn’t come with a hack saw and a trash bag to put Barbie’s head in.”

Maybe you’re just not looking hard enough for “Barbie is an Adulterous B**ch Ken.” He’s probably right there next to “‘Bad Decision’ Baribie” and “‘Cut a Bro’ GI Joe.” Do you go in all the aisles? I guess you probably don’t, because you are in fact, a grown man in a children’s toy store…

In all seriousness, this guy should be commended for bringing this situation to light. I understand that there are collectors out there who enjoy buying these types of adult-themed figures and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that; but they would probably be more appropriately stocked at places like a local hobby shop and not a children’s toy store.
