Feit Footwear

Check out the slick footwear from Feit, founded by Tull Price in 2005. Born from a desire to cut out the middleman and involve the consumer in the entire process, Price is doing something a lot of shoemakers aren’t.

It all started back in 1996 when Tull Price (at 20 years old, mind you) and his partner founded the iconic Royal Elastics. K-Swiss noticed the crazy success of the brand and bought into it in 2002. Price stayed on as President, but left 2 years later as he began reevaluating his career in footwear. He want to keep creating shoes, but decided he would personalize the experience.

Price launched Feit with the intentions to involve the customer in the entire production process. Customers get e-mails throughout the entire shoemaking procedure, from the time the leather is cut, to the handsewing, to the final touches. Price has effectively opened up his team of artisan shoemakers in China to the end consumer, thereby avoiding any sort of retail mark-ups.

Made from all natural leathers and often combined with French calfskin, Feit has some crazy nice options for you. On average their prices fall right around the $300 range. But I can tell you that for the quality of the shoe you’re getting (handsewn, natural leather), these shoes would cost you double anywhere else. The hiking boot is perfect for those of you who aren’t convinced by traditional winter boots (LL Bean duck boots, Hunter galoshes, etc.). They give you the ruggedness of an all-weather shoe, but the athletic styling of a hi-top sneaker. My favorite part of all these shoes is the x-ray sole (see above). I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it before.

Check out some more shots of their various offerings – The hiking boot in black and oxblood (the oxblood is my favorite) and the Chukka boots in the same colors.
