How to impress your lady friend on Valentine’s Day – Part 1, take 2
So, I’ll admit it. I went a little full retard. And everyone knows you never go full retard. I confess that the first take of “Part 1″ was a bit expensive. I never meant for the pieces to be bought at once, more so over time. I wanted you to see how these pieces could fit together and work for a nice ensemble. With that said, I’m gonna go all Wal-Mart on you guys and rollback the prices. Check out the new and improved (and more affordable) dinner date outfit.
Club Room Blazer, Estate Traveler Navy – $250, on sale $129.99
So, this is my personal go-to blazer. I love the two-button style and the notch lapels. Take it to the tailor for that perfect fit and you’ll have a versatile navy blazer you can wear in formal and casual occasions.
L.L. Bean’s Town and Field Pants, Wool Flannel – $89, on sale $49.99 if you’re a 40in or 44in
(where the big MFers at?)
These pants were the talk of the interwebs when they originally went on sale. I know there are only bigger sizes left, but once the next season comes around snatch these up for F/W 2011. Get them cuffed and hemmed for no break. No break in your pants actually gives the impression of making you look taller. So, my sub-5’9″ dudes your trousers should always be no break or pretty damn near it.
Tommy Hilfiger Dress Shirt, Texture Oxford Fitted – $65, on sale $46.99
Sometimes you just gotta rely on Macy’s to get you through the essentials on the cheap. If you ever need a quick fix for a shirt/tie, my go to store has always been Macy’s. Steal your mom’s/girlfriend’s/sister’s Macy’s card and grab that 20% off that never seems to go away.
The Tie Bar, Wool Herringbone Tie Khaki/Cream – $15
I’ve never purchased a tie from The Tie Bar, so I can’t speak to the quality of the fabrics, etc.. But at $15 I’m sure it’s as good as it can be at that price and I know their accessories are pretty on point. Keep your ties at no less than 2.5″ wide and no more than 3.25″ wide. Anything more or less is too much and ruins the look.
The Tie Bar, Chicago Paisley (Navy) Pocketsquare – $8
For a little color add this paisley pocketsquare, a great deal from The Tie Bar.
Florsheim Veblen Limited Longwings – $160
I tried my best to find a pair of good quality shoes that were under $150, but I couldn’t in good conscience post about them. These are the closest I could find and my friends love their pair. Florsheim has some great, quality shoes for fairly affordable prices. Don’t sleep on them.
So there you have it. I hope you’re able to find some pieces in there for your next big event or dinner date, and still leave enough money in the bank to actually buy the dinner.
