J. Hilburn – A custom clothing retailer
Lately, I’ve been really looking at affordable custom-made clothing. I have weird proportions, so off the rack doesn’t fit me as well. My latest find has me very intrigued. Meet J. Hilburn.

I came across J. Hilburn in a Mashable article this morning, a leading digital/social media news website for those unfamiliar. The company was founded in 2007 by Hil Davis, a former Wall Street retail analyst. Like many made-to-measure clothing shops, he had a desire to cut out the middleman and bring the highest quality goods to the consumer at the most affordable price.
So, instead of your normal brick-and-mortar store or e-commerce site, Davis hired veritable army of salespeople all around the country in every major market. These people acted as style advisors, meeting with clients one-on-one, giving them style advice and taking their measurements. Last year alone, they sold 60,000 custom shirts and 12,000 custom trousers, amounting in $8 million in revenue.
Well, now they hope to blow that number out of the water with their new e-commerce offering, JHilburn.com. Customers will be able to make profiles and store their measurements/orders much like the other custom shirting websites. The process seems simple enough and there’s plenty of options to go through. I especially like the multitude of collar options they have. Right now, you can grab a shirt for $99 +shipping. For a shirt that will fit you like a glove, this is a great price. You won’t find them much cheaper anywhere else (though I think I may have found a place that does). I can’t speak to the quality just yet, but one of their representatives reached out to me through Twitter. I hope to get fitted for a shirt next week and I’ll get back to you all on the quality and overall process of grabbing a shirt.
