J. Hilburn unveils new tailored suiting collection

The last time we heard about J. Hilburn, they were making waves with their new e-commerce site (JHilburn.com). The company made the transition from an on-the-ground army of style advisors to a full-service online shop (though they still have their style advisors, don’t worry). This morning J. Hilburn is in the news again, this time with a brand new tailored suiting collection for men.

Wedding season is in full bloom and I’m willing to bet many of you had to run out to Macy’s, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, et al. to grab a new suit. Off the rack suits can be a bit of a problem. They don’t always fit right for your body, either they’re too boxy or too long, the chest is too big but the shoulders fit, etc.. It’s practically impossible to find an OTR suit that fits well, especially for guys like me who have weird proportions and are short/stocky.

Enter J. Hilburn.

Their suits are made to order straight from Europe. They use the same manufacturers as high-end brands like Zegna, Armani, and Burberry. However, their “disruptive business model” is set to directly source top of the line materials, also used by the brands just mentioned. For those keeping score at home, this allows for J. Hilburn to create more affordable, better fitting, better quality suiting options for men. The suits will start at $700 and separate jackets will start at $525.

The point J. Hilburn is trying to make here is that their suit is different. The process is different. It begins with a private consultation by one of their knowledgeable style advisors*. They take the time to get to know you and help you pick out the perfect suit for your personality and style. The following are just some of the personalization features:

  1. A preferred fit (or as I like to call it – your “silhouette”)
  2. Fine Italian wool fabrics in a range of colors and patterns
  3. Unique lining options (patterned lining is dope and puts an unexpected personalized stamp on your suit)
  4. Pockets and vents
  5. Button styles (the beauty is in the minutiae, folks)

So, as you can see every detail is a decision that’s yours to make. As CEO Hil Davis states,“The fact is there aren’t a lot of options for guys who appreciate fit, materials, quality, and value; you end up with some combination of the four, but not all. That’s where we fit in.” The beauty of the suit lies in its unique combination of details and attributes that are solely yours.

Take a look at some images from the new collection below. They have a good range of subtly patterned suits and solid colors. Though, I must say my favorite piece is probably the multi-colored check sportcoat. It’s absolutely perfect for the Fall/Winter months. Enjoy and don’t forget to head over to J. Hilburn to check out the new collection!

*I’ve been through their style advisor process when the folks at J. Hilburn were kind enough to set me up with a shirt and a pair of trousers awhile back. I was literally getting fitted at a bar, as I threw back a couple cold beers talking and learning about the company. They made me feel comfortable and at ease, an overall great experience. The clothes fit spot on once I received them and the quality was on point. By far, it is one of the best looking and feeling shirts/trousers I own.
