Levi’s 520s tapered jean: Get your stocky swag on
Gabe Alonso It looks like Levi’s finally answered the call of stocky men everywhere! For all you guys with a thick lower half thanks to your hockey/football/soccer/baseball playing days, I’ve got the perfect pair of jeans for you.
So, I spent the majority of my 25 years here on this Earth playing sports and eating my mom’s incredible Cuban cooking. Both things did not help to maintain a slim lower body. At 5’7″, I’m definitely on the stockier side of the spectrum. I’ve always had problems buying slim fit jeans because honestly, I couldn’t fit my ass and my thighs. I’d have to size up in the waist just so I could fit. Then I lose a few pounds and the pants are huge on me.
Story of my life. A few years ago, I found a pair of the 520s in an Urban Outfitters and I fell in love with the fit. The rise was high enough that I could fit my big ass into the jeans comfortably and the thigh was roomier than most. Coupled with a pretty drastic taper (the leg opening was a narrow 6.5″), I finally felt like I had found a pair of jeans that were a happy medium between fit and trend. When I went to buy another pair, I had found out they were discontinued and was super bummed.
Well, Levi’s has decided to bring the 520 back, much to the excitement of my big-thighed, big-assed brethren. It comes in a rigid wash (pictured) and also a faded medium wash. At $69.50, grab them while they’re hot. I can’t wait to replace the pair I literally wore holes into. The jeans were super comfortable and the perfect complement to my weird proportions.
