…By showing us how NOT to wear a suit. Some of you here may not agree with Nicolas Sarkozy politically, but the cut of his suit essentially does this to Zuckerberg’s travesty. Let’s go through how Zucks failed so you won’t do the same when you are given the opportunity to meet with the head of a world power.

The other day, Mark Zuckerberg had the opportunity to meet with French president Nicolas Sarkozy and help him set up his fan page. There are a lot of things wrong with his fit, but let’s start with the shirt. White shirt is smart, but button that top button! If you are the type of guy that is so uncomfortable with buttoning the top button of your dress shirt you are either buying them too small in the collar or need to grow up and realize that grown-ups button their top buttons when conducting business. If it was the end of the day and he was chilling with Sarkozy, sipping some wine, talking about “poking” some Parisian beauties, and this was a candid then fine. However, business is being conducted and you should show some respect.

On to the suit. Suits should enhance a man’s frame, and Mark’s doesn’t. Mark Zuckerberg has too much money to look like he does Geico commercials. Seriously, while you do not need to spend $1000+ on suit when you have got the money to spend on a quite nice suit you should do so. There are certain things a man shouldn’t be afraid to splurge on should he have the money to do so: one is a watch that he might pass down and another is a classic suit. Zuckerberg drops the ball here. The shoulders look fine, but the body is in desperate need of tailoring. Tip: When not sitting down, keep your jacket buttoned. It gives you a much slimmer silhouette and you look like a G when  you sit down and subtly unbutton your jacket with one hand. Notice how the sleeves make him look like Stay Puft. While they definitely shouldn’t look like Under Armor, they should taper naturally to the wrist. Speaking of wrists, your suit sleeves should not, I repeat NOT, go past your wrists. While his pants are flat front, they are far to big in the seat and legs. Like the sleeves, the trousers of a suit should taper naturally to the shoe. Sarkozy, on the other hand, gets it right. A picture speaks a thousand words…
