Rollerblade Wheels ‘Infused’ With Cocaine Found In Package Shipped From Colombia

Drug smugglers trying to be sneaky in the way they import their illegal substances into the United States were once again thwarted by law enforcement.

This time a pair of rollerblades with wheels infused with a “gelatin-like substance” that turned out to be cocaine gave the culprits away.

According to a press release by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin, the Kenosha Drug Operations Group and Tactical Response Team and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Team made the bust after Homeland Security Investigation intercepted a packed en route to Kenosha from Bogota, Colombia.

“With the assistance of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the wheels of the rollerblades were identified as suspicious,” the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department wrote.

“The package was intercepted as a result and a series of presumptive tests were conducted on the wheels.

“It was then discovered that the wheels were infused with a gelatin-like substance that tested positive for the presence of cocaine.”

Detectives then obtained a search warrant for the address where the delivery was to be delivered.

Once the package was delivered to the residence with an assist from Homeland Security Investigation and accepted by a resident of the home, the Tactical Response Team conducted the search warrant on the property.

Inside the home, law enforcement discovered 1,048 grams of cocaine with an approximate street value of $35,000; money transfer documents from Kenosha to Bogota totaling more than $30,000; numerous forged documents, including false permanent resident alien cards, social security cards and Colombian identification cards; and $3,475 in cash.

Previous items in which drug smugglers have used in an attempt to bring their product into a country, but were caught doing so, include tequila bottles filled with nearly 10 tons of concentrated liquid meth, $107 million worth of drugs hidden inside a vintage 1960 Bentley, and $35 million worth of meth hidden inside strawberry purée.
