Onepiece – UK clothing sensation?! Seriously?

Gabe Alonso Style Editor

It’s a grown ass man onesie. Made out of fleece. The trend started across the pond. The girls look good in them. Do I really need to say more?

So, I recently got a press release for “SPRING’S HOTTEST FASHION SENSATION.” Naturally, I was curious. I was thinking maybe it was shoes or sunglasses, something moderately awesome. I wasn’t prepared for this.

I wasn’t prepared for the Onepiece.

It’s at this time, gentlemen, that I knew hell hath frozen over. I couldn’t believe my eyes. A onesie. They were pitching me a glorified onesie, a snuggie on steroids, a man-sized baby PJ. I figured, at least the girls were cute. But I couldn’t believe it. Their story is one for the ages and I quote -

Starting in 2007, three hung-over Norwegians (Thomas Adams, Hernia Nøstrud and Knut Gresvig) had the idea to sew together a hooded sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants, connecting the two with a giant zipper to create the ORIGINAL OnePiece.

Give them props for at least coming up with something productive out of their hangover. I usually just sulk over to the bagel shop, grab a large coffee, a bacon, egg, & cheese sandwich, and sulk back to my couch where I stay for the next 12 hours. I don’t decide to sew my casual clothes together into an ultimate couch potato get up.

So, I decided to give it a slight change. I clicked through to the website because I was curious. Maybe they’re really comfortable right?? I mean, it’s fleece. HA. Guess how much these are going for…$75? $100? $140? Nope. Incorrect. Keep going…

ONE HUNDRED-EIGHTY-SEVEN DOLLARS. This was more or less my response:

Hey, OnePiece – I understand that you’re trying to market to the luxury lazy ass, but that’s just ridiculous. Maybe in the UK they’re willing to spend this much on connected sweatpants and hoodies, but I don’t think that’s gonna fly in the States.

But hey, maybe I’m incorrect here. What do you guys think? Here are some more images and you can obviously check everything out on OnePiece.com.

What'd you think of this?
