PooPrint uses doggie dump DNA to track negligent owners

Screen shot 2011 06 28 at 2.42.52 PM 224x214 PooPrint uses doggie dump DNA to track negligent ownersIf you live in an apartment complex, you probably see lots of dogs being walked. And therefore, you probably see lots of dogs taking dumps.

What you probably don’t see is owners of said dogs picking up the poo. Which is where “PooPrint,” a commercially-available DNA kit, comes in.

See, PooPrint lets you get your Horatio Caine on by collecting samples of poop and identifying what dog produced said sample, and therefore determining what owners of what dogs aren’t maintaining general neighborly upkeep.

“It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever done as a property manager,” says PooPrint customer Debbie Logan, via The Week.

The obvious downside is that you have to scoop up piles of dog feces.

But at least this means that someone will finally be on … duty.
