Waskerd wallets Product Review: Waskerd wallets
A wallet says a lot about a guy. Are you a tri-fold guy, or a high roller with a money clip? Do you like the sleek sophistication of a card case, or do you prefer the hulking storage capacity of a George Costanza wallet? Well there are numerous studies showing that carrying wallets like good old George in your back pocket all day are a.) terrible for your spine and b.) one of the first signs that you will get your own episode of Hoarders. We like a well crafted wallet with a story behind it, and Waskerd by Derek Shaw offers just that. Derek hand makes all of the wallets himself right here in the USA and currently offers 8 different styles to choose from. They are made from high quality full-grain leather. Nothing is mechanized in the process: the leather is cut, the holes are punched, and seams stitched by Derek himself.

He was generous enough to send me one of his Strayer cardholders (pictured above). Though slim, with just 2 slots, I was surprised at how much I could cram in the case. It can easily accommodate 8 cards and somewhere between five and eight folded bills. On a night out on the town, you really don’t need much more. The leather is extremely soft yet durable and after a month of constant use the stitching shows no signs fraying. Originally a lighter shade of brown, the leather has picked up a nice patina quite early from wear in the back pocket of my jeans. At $55, it’s an excellent value, and with the most expensive style being $80 you’d be hard pressed to find another company offering a similar handmade product right here in the States. If you are looking for a new wallet or cardholder and would like something a little rugged, with character, and at a great price we definitely recommend looking into Waskerd. How often can you say you know exactly who made something you are wearing?
