Some deemed ‘too fat’ for Harry Potter ride in new theme park
Apparently there are some wizards that are too large for the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride at Orlando’s new Harry Potter theme park. Time to use your wand to conjure up a treadmill.

A lot of American’s are overweight. This is not a news to anyone that lives here. And it can absolutely be restricting depending on the situation; things like airplanes, theater seats and theme park rides are simply not made for people of a certain weight or girth. People of this weight should sort of understand this by now, but it seems like a few visitors to the new “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” park are unable to grasp that fact.
Harry Potter fanatic Jeff Guillaume said he was “quite disappointed” after park officials turned him away from the Hogwarts-touring attraction because his 5-foot, 8-inch, 265-pound frame was deemed too large for the ride’s safety harnesses.
In all honesty, it’s hard to blame the folks at Universal Studios’ for being unable to accommodate everyone that enters their park. I mean everyone that has ever been to a theme park knows that you have to be a certain height to ride the roller coasters. So it makes sense that if you are only 5-foot-8 and weight 265-pounds, you should understand that you can’t ride all the damn rides. According to Body Mass Index charts, you are anywhere from 80-100 pounds overweight. I don’t men to be a douche, but your obesity would put other riders at risk.
Even some theme park consulting firms agree with that assessment.
“It’s not unusual,” he says. “You have weight restrictions everywhere from Disney to the smallest mom-and-pop operators. It’s for the safety of the guests. … They aren’t penalizing the person to be mean. They are exercising caution as it relates to safety — and that’s the prudent thing to do.”
Americans — if you want to ride all the rides you have to meet a certain criteria. Maybe if you lose some weight and come back you’ll be able to ride–there’s some motivation that Harry can give you that may end up saving your life later on. Think more like Hermine and less like Hagrid.
