Or maybe a better way of saying this is “an app to make annoying people even more annoying than they already are.”
We avoid Glee and every horrible thing it has spawned, unless they happen to be bikini pics, but it’s undeniable that a cappela is a cultural trend. And where there are cultural trends, there are app developers hoping to make a million dollars selling people software a dollar a pop.
This one does, at least, not use auto-tune.
It is, however, the same basic technology as auto-tune. You choose a song style, ranging from classical to pop, and press record. Then speak normally into your phone. The software tunes the recording to four different harmonies, sets it to the song, and you have instant music. Well, “music”. We’re pretty sure even dubstep is going to be better than the atrocities this turns out.
Unfortunately, if you know anybody prone to buying toys like this on their smartphone, brace for impact: the software is designed to share any tracks you record on Facebook and Twitter, or even, of course, send it to you over email.
You couldn’t just strip out the sharing functionality, guys? Really? You had to subject the rest of us to this?
