VIDEO: Orchestra plays concert honoring the music of Nintendo
A few days ago the WDR Radio Orchestra put on a concert entitled “Symphonic Legends,” which was a tribute to the music of Nintendo. And they did an insanely amazing job covering the music of Zelda, Metroid and of course, Super Mario Bros.
And this was not just some little get together to play old 8-bit tunes, this was a full orchestra accompanied by an amazing choir. Seems a bit of a ridiculous premise when you think about it, yet, when you hear it, your jaw hit’s the floor. Listening to all this music takes me back to a time where all I did was sit around, drink coke and eat Doritos while playing all these Nintendo games. That day was yesterday…
The Legend of Zelda Suite
Metroid Suite
And for our younger readers and current gamers, here is the Super Mario Galaxy Suite
The concert went off without a hitch — except for one unruly audience member that was a SEGA fan and kept screaming “Play ‘Altered Beast’! I want to hear that ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ up in this piece!”
Yuji Naka was then escorted out of the building.
