VIDEO: Spanish engineer builds teeny little V-12 motor

There are two things nerds love to do: build things that are absolutely useless but nonetheless awesome, and miniaturize objects until they are absolutely useless but nonetheless awesome. Patelo, a Spanish engineer, has possibly achieved the greatest of both, making a V-12 that might be able to power an RC car.
v12engine 135x95 VIDEO: Spanish engineer builds teeny little V 12 motorPowered by air injection, this tiny little engine (possibly record-breakingly tiny) took about 1200 hours to make out of aluminum, bronze, and stainless steel. And he built all the parts from scratch, except for the screws, just in case you were wondering how obsessive he was. Here’s the full video of him putting this tiny little dynamo together:

And no, you can’t buy one. On the other hand, if you’ve got 1200 hours and engineering experience, you can make one. So there’s that.

He grew up fiddling with video game systems, computers, cameras, and other technology you should never hand to an eight-year-old if you want it back in pristine condition. Currently, he lives in Boston with his girlfriend, her cat, a Shih Tzu, and far too many objects with processors.
