VIDEO: Stewart and Colbert to hold rallies in Washington on October 30th
Just weeks after Glenn Beck held a rally that supposedly “restored honor,” host of the Daily Show, John Stewart, has decided to hold his own rally to “restore sanity” on October 30th at the National Mall in Washington, DC. Steven Colbert then confirmed that he too will be holding a different rally on the same day.
Stewart’s rally is supposed to be the folks in this country still sitting on the fence in the political landscape while people on both sides throw bricks and Moltalv cocktails over the fence in hopes of knocking someone out or burning down a rival news studio. Though the rally itself is described as a “call for rationality,” which seems fairly tame, it still sounds like a good time.
“You may be asking yourself, right now, sitting at home, but am I the right type of person to go to this rally,” said Stewart. “The fact that you would even stop to ask yourself that question, as opposed to just, let’s say, jumping up, grabbing the nearest stack of holy books, strapping on a diaper and just pointing your car towards D.C.—that means I think you might just be right for it.”
But Stewart isn’t the only person who will be holding a rally that day, as Stephen Colbert has announced that he too will have a rally called “The March to Keep Fear Alive,” which I assume will be some sort of McCarthiest propaganda about restoring “truthiness” and keeping the bears out of Washington.
“Shame on you Jon Stewart,” Colbert said later on his own show. “America cannot afford a rally to restore sanity in the middle of a recession. Did you even consider how many panic-related jobs that might cost us in the fear-industrial complex?”
Gotta figure these men may fill the mall with their presence on October 30th. Dueling rallies in DC — proof that Comedy Central will go the extra mile to bring its fans what they demand. But why would they even do this? It’s not like they have some big announcement that they want to spring on the world while at the Nation’s Capital, right?

Still better than the last guy.
