VIDEO: Twitter activity following Japan earthquake
You’ll recall that the Japanese Earthquake was one of the most terrifying natural disasters we’ve ever seen.
You’ll also recall that it was the first major, major natural disaster that took place with a national social media network in place.
And in the world of social media, when the proverbial ish starts to hit the fan, things pick up. (Things also pick up when fun stuff happens like, as the Twitter blog notes, during the World Cup and whatnot.)
Which is why it’s always interesting to see this sort of online blow-up in the form of video and shiny colors and stuff.
Said video is going to show the number of @replies “traveling into and out of Japan in a one-hour period just before and then after the earthquake.”
Messages TO Japan are in pink; messages FROM Japan are in yellow.
