VIDEO: Uganda’s first action film looks hilariously bizarre

Shawn Norris

Uganda is not really known for their film schools (more for abject poverty) but that didn’t stop them from making one of the most wildly bizarre films in the history of film. It’s like Platoon without the budget, special effects, script re-writes, actors, director, etc.

Warning: This video contains some (cartoonish) violence

It’s the best of the best films that may or may not have been filmed in a helium factory. It’s like Ewe Boll and Ed Wood got together and said, “You know there aren’t any good Ugandan films about helicopters that can blow up skyscrapers. We should really make one.”

In all seriousness, it probably took a lot of work to make this film and I’m sure their budget was almost non-existent, so you have to commend them for making the effort. I know a lot of people that call themselves “film makers” that have never even written or directed a movie, so while this looks a tad on the insanely bad side, it’s still a start. Who knows, maybe this movie does well enough to open the door for a Ugandan to win an Oscar in the next decade.

…better make that a quarter-century.
