This video shows what the video game Rock Band may look like in the next few years; a video game that may teach you to actually play an instrument rather than pretending to play one.

This is both mesmerizing and amazing…
It looks cool, sounds cool and would put a stop to all the naysayers who complain that people playing Rock Band would be better served learning to play an actual instrument rather than wasting their time with video games. I’m sure given a few programmers that knew how to teach music and a little bit of time, this may well become the way some kids take music lessons in the future. The interactive nature of the game may actually help some kids with the learning process when you factor in a scoring system and a catalog of their favorite songs — songs they’ll actually want to learn to play (Michael can row his own damn boat ashore).
It sounds ridiculous to say now, but with the right ears and the continuing popularity of the Rock Band franchise, we could be looking at a new Renaissance in music. I mean kids everywhere play this and if they learn to play at a young age who knows what they’ll be able to accomplish musically?
