24/7 Jimmie Johnson: Race to Daytona

I’ll be honest in saying that my knowledge of NASCAR is limited to “Wow, that was an awesome turn. Sweet, did you see that left turn?” Yea, Nascar isn’t entirely what you would call an exciting sport. The highlights are limited to guys passing each other, multi-car wrecks, and donuts on the infield when you win.

All that said, Jimmie Johnson was named the 2009 AP Athlete of the Year. So apparently, the rest of us are missing out on something. Johnson has also won an astounding 4 straight Sprint Cup titles, a feat that hasn’t been done by any other NASCAR driver. Tonight on HBO in their “24/7″ series, they take a look at Johnson and his team and their race to NASCAR’s biggest stage, Daytona. Now while my program watching on HBO is usually limited to “Entourage, G-String Divas, and Real Sex”, I’ll admit, I’ll probably give this series a look.
