Vyacheslav Fetisov, who is widely considered one of the greatest Russian hockey players of all-time is making a return to hockey at the ripe old age of 52. Fetisov, who was instrumental in the Detroit Red Wings back to back Stanley Cup championships in ’97 and ’98 was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.

And although he is returning to a KHL club team, its still a highly competitive league. How competitive Fetisov is remains to be seen. He hasn’t laced up the skates in 11 years.

The press service of the KHL club CSKA Moscow has informed that the two-time Olympic champion has agreed to play for them in the league.

“We already sent all the required documents to the league and if all goes well, he will be able to play as soon as Friday in the match against SKA. But it is still early to talk about signing a full-time contract with Fetisov,” Natalia Myaskina, CSKA’s press secretary, told RIA-Novosti news agency.

Hell, if I’m alive at 52, I hope to banging broads not playing hockey. I’d consider that my exercise for the week.

Oh, and just a public service announcement to the website who reported this, not all Russians look alike.

You posted a picture of Vladimir Konstantinov in place of Fetisov. The Vladinator was one of the most feared players in the NHL during his time with the Red Wings. Unfortunately, the man hasn’t played hockey or even walked for the better part of 12 years after being in a terrible car accident. So, let’s just say that picture is probably in bad taste.
