Ryan Braun 135x95 A 16 year old blogger had the Ryan Braun story before anyone else

Who got the Ryan Braun urine snafu story first? ESPN? Fox Sports? SI? Nope, none of them. Despite paying journalists millions of dollars to ascertain the whereabouts of Braun’s urine, it was 16-year-old Curt Hogg who beat them to the punch.

Hogg, who runs a site called “Plushdamentals” on the MLB Blog Network reported the news on February 14th–nine days before anyone else.

An anonymous source has reported to Plushdamentals that Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun’s drug test that tested positive for increased levels of synthetic testosterone was mishandled, thus likely altering the results of the test. The report exclusively reached Plushdamentals through a source familiar with a former college teammate of Braun’s at the University of Miami and reportedly has knowledge of the situation.

According to sources, the results were not immediately sent to Major League Baseball as they should have been. Instead, the test samples were brought back to the collector’s residence in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There they remained, refrigerated, overnight until they were mailed in the next morning. While it is not assured that there is sufficient information to show that the test was mishandled, it supports Braun’s case.

Bravo Curt, bravo! A job well done sir.

While we’re on the subject of Ryan Braun, let’s all collectively laugh at MLB for their handling of this situation. How someone thought it was ok to keep a urine specimen in their fridge is beyond words. And then to release such a butthurt PR statement after the arbitrator’s decision? Well, that’s just comical.

I don’t expect much out of MLB, especially when that bumbling buffoon Bud Selig is running the show. But this? This was something sponsored directly by “Barnum and Bailey.”
